Wine bottling line

Resolve bottle-to-closure change parts, project interfaces and packed-bottle counting before you select a wine bottling line supplier. Still wine, sparkling duty and mixed glass heights are different decisions. This page is a procurement dossier, not an engineering stamp or a compliance guarantee for the cellar or the packaging hall.

Project interfaces

Project interfaces: Design input

List every bottle height and diameter that must run in the first twenty-four months. Pair each with closure type and capsule or foil if used. Mark infeed from the empty-bottle table or rinser and outfeed to labeling and case packing. If a cellar filler already exists, record conveyor height, bottle pitch and the PLC interface a new labeller or packer must join. State destination and whether bottles travel in partitions that change case-packer tooling.

Supplier answer

Require a change-part matrix: which stars, gripping heads and capping chucks are included for each bottle-to-closure pair. Ask how a complete line trial counts packed good bottles—after corking, after labeling, or after the case packer—and whether sparkling foam losses are inside the reject allowance. Confirm who writes restart logic when the corker stops the labeller. FAT with water does not replace a wine sample if dissolved gas or temperature matters to fill height.

Open deviation

Typical unresolved items: mixed Bordeaux and Burgundy heights quoted as one turret; screw-cap added later as an unpriced conversion; inspection owned by the buyer while the supplier quotes packed output. Leave those as open deviations rather than assuming a later goodwill fix.

Wine bottling line decisions that change the comparable total
Decision Why it blocks supplier selection Evidence to request If left open
Closure family Cork, screw-cap and sparkling heads are not one tool set Change-part list with bottle drawing IDs Later SKUs arrive as extra capital
Line handshake Filler, closer, labeller and packer may be different factories Who owns conveyors and restart signals Stoppages sit in a contractual gap
Packed count Nominal speed is not packed good bottles Trial start/stop points and reject definition SAT arguments after shipment
Utilities Vacuum, inert gas, compressed air and drains differ by closure Connected load and utility schedule on the layout Site extras appear after the machine PO
